Introduction:
The project aims to develop a spatially explicit model on the ecosystem impact of fisheries that can be used to evaluate management scenarios with an Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management. The model describes the dynamics in space and time of the fisheries and the fish stocks and will estimate the ecosystem impact of different gear types on various ecosystem components. The key processes of the model will be the dynamic choice of individual fishers of the target species, fishing gear and fishing ground constrained by the spatial distribution of the target fisheries resources, the socio-economic conditions and management regulations.
