Introduction:
The goal of the Dutch Milk Genomics Initiative is to identify genes that contribute to genetic variation in milk-quality traits, in particular milk fat and milk protein composition. The project provides tools for improved breeding programs to exploit natural genetic variation in milk-quality traits and it provides the knowledge base for innovations of dairy products. This PhD project within the Dutch Milk Genomics Initiative will focus on whole genome scans of the resource population using 60,000 SNP markers to detect chromosomal regions (QTL) of interest influencing milk fat composition.
