Introduction:
The main objective is to develop a mathematical model of bovine tuberculosis (bTB) transmission that describes the disease in cattle and badgers in the Republic of Ireland. Ultimately, this model will be used to assess the impact of interventions on bTB prevalence in both species. Data from ongoing field trials (particularly data related to efficacy of the badger vaccine) and data from previous research work will be utilized to inform parameter estimation. Experimental work (the exact nature of which will depend on identified gaps in the knowledge required for parameter estimation) will also be carried out.
