Introduction:
Small ruminant/crop systems in Ghana rely mostly on family labour for animal feeding and management. Situations that give rise to labour constraints will negatively affect labour division and productivity in these systems. Particularly in a situation of HIV/AIDS, with women being the caretakers of the sick in addition to household duties, farm duties performed by women will be impacted on. The study aims at investigating the effect of labour stress, specifically HIV/AIDS, on the feeding, management and subsequent production of small ruminants, and how these effects will be gendered.
