Introduction:
Consideration is being given to the utilisation of indigenous trypanotolerant breeds of domestic animals as a sustainable approach to livestock development in tsetse infested areas. However, successful applications are lacking due to technical as well as social constraints.
This project aims at a better utilisation of local genetic resources by developing optimum strategies for the implementation of improvement programmes for trypanotolerant breeds in West African countries.
