If your ambition is in science, in discovering new knowledge, or applications of knowledge, the
Wageningen Institute of Animal Sciences (WIAS) Graduate School offers excellent opportunities for doing a PhD. It guarantees a high quality thesis after 4 years, and offers a tailor-made
course programme to help you become a professional scientist.
WIAS is responsible for research strategy, research quality and the PhD program in the field of Animal Science at Wageningen University. At the moment, there are more than140 PhD candidates
enrolled. About 75% of them are externally funded and 50% are international PhD candidates. WIAS' scientific staff consists of about 70 faculty members from 11 chair groups, of which 20 are full-time or

The WIAS mission statement: The graduate school WIAS aims to improve our understanding of animals and their various roles for mankind through fundamental and strategic research and training of young researchers.
In June 2009, WIAS participated in an international peer review, over the period 2003-2008. The Peer Review Committee concluded that: "WIAS is highly regarded internationally as a leading centre
of research and higher education. The institute demonstrates a united, cohesive approach to its research and teaching."
